Google will not show all ads related to cryptocurrencies on its advertising platform, the company said on Wednesday . Google said that, as of June of this year, it will not show advertisements that are cryptocurrency, tips for exchanging cryptocurrencies, cryptocurrency portfolios and cryptocurrency exchange rate data. These changes, says Google, also apply to sites that legitimately offer this type of service. "We do not have a crystal ball to know where the future of cryptocurrencies is going, " a Google executive told CNBC . "But we have seen enough harm to consumers, and it is an area that we want to attend with a lot of caution." This change in Google's policies comes months after Facebook made a similar blockade against the increase in interest - and attempts at scams - by cryptocurrencies. The rise of these currencies has been increasing since last year and although they claim to be an alternative to traditional currencies, there are no established rules on foot, which has given rise to scams (such as the one suffered by Steve Wozniak himself ). Google also published a statement regarding advertising in 2017. According to the company, 3,200 million ads that violated its policies were eliminated. This figure increases considerably from the 1,700 million ads removed in 2016.
