This is how the longest automatic subway line in the world operatesNowadays, public transport is becoming increasingly important . The need to connect cities and move easily through them makes this a very competitive market. Singapore is one of the cities that is betting on modernizing its transport system and therefore will install the most innovative railway signaling technology in the extension of the Downtown Line 3 (DTL3) line. This new extension of 2.2 km from the Downtown Line 3 , whose commissioning is scheduled for 2024, will connect the line with the Thomson-East Coast Line (TEL) and will offer many more travel options to travelers of the transportation system. metropolitan area of Singapore thus improving the public transport offer of the city-state. With this project, Singapore's Downtown Line is not only going to become the longest automatic subway line in the world, but also benefits from the most advanced CBTC technology that allows the operator to increase the capacity and availability of its network , which will result in an improvement of the transport experience of half a million travelers every day. This is the railway signaling technology of Singapore's automatic subway line The first phase of the line -DTL1-, with more than four kilometers, entered service in December 2013 and had six stations between Chinatown and Bugis. DTL2, the second phase, with twelve stations and 16.6 kilometers, connects Bukit Panjag and Rochor since 2015. The DTL3 is the third leg of the line and came into service in October 2017. With 21 kilometers and 16 stations , this section is the longest and includes three exchange stations in MacPherson, Tampines and Expo. With the opening of this new section, an appreciable improvement in connectivity between residential and industrial areas is achieved. Siemens was responsible for the supply, installation and commissioning of the signaling system for the DTL , which includes CBTC technology to equip the 34 stations and 92 trains and the ATS (Automatic Train Supervision) Controlguide Rail 9000 system. The project also includes the installation of Westrace MkII Trackguard electronic interlocks , as well as the supply of platform doors. The heart of the driverless line operation system is the Siemens CBTC , an automatic train driving system that, among others, has the advantage of reducing the interval between trains and thus increasing the transport capacity of the line . In case of an eventual incident, the CBTC system is able to continue operating thanks to its exclusive backup mode based on an ATP system by "speed codes", which allows the movement of trains to be maintained safely. The Downtown Line , which has a length of 42 kilometers and has 34 stations, transports more than half a million passengers every day in a totally automatic and driverless way, connecting the east and west of the island with the Central Business District ( CBD) and with Marina Bay.
