Anti-poaching dogs working in Southern Kenya

A dog unit has been introduced into Mara Conservancy since 2009. The unit is composed by four tracker dogs and two specifically trained to sniff out ivory and gun smuggling at the border of the country.



A five-month-old bloodhound puppy, working with her canine ranger team was being trained in the Mara triangle, the north-western part of Maasai Mara national reserve managed by non-profit organization Mara Conservancy, in southern Kenya, on January 24, 2018.



The dogs are trained by US experts to fight against poaching in the Mara Triangle, part of the vast Maasai Mara ecosystem in southern Kenya that merges into Tanzania’s Serengeti.
