Netflix revealed the number of episodes that the new season will have and when production will begin, which presages a long wait. There is still a year to go before the premiere of the third season of Stranger Things but some details, although small, have begun to filter. The next season of the successful series of Netflix, with a theme of science fiction and horror set in the 80s of the last century, will unfortunately have one episode less than the second season. Netflix confirmed to CNET that season 3 will have eight episodes, the same number as the first season. Season 2 had nine episodes, although some fans may not want to remember episode seven, entitled The Lost Sister , a controversial argument in which Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) is looking for a mysterious partner of the Hawkins Lab. The streaming service also confirmed that the production of the new episodes will begin in mid-April. The news was originally reported by TVLine . Matt Duffer, co- showrunner of the series, has already anticipated that season 3 will happen in 1985, placing the new events a year after the season ended season 2. "Even if we wanted to advance the story faster, we could not," Duffer told The Hollywood Reporter last October . "Our cast is growing, we are at the maximum speed at which we can write and produce the show, they will be almost one year older when we start shooting season 3, which generates some challenges." Duffer clarifies that they could not start filming the new episodes as soon as the second season ended. "This forces you to jump back in time, but what I like is that it drives the show to evolve, it forces the series to change, because the guys are changing too," he adds. There is still no release date for the third season, but one of the stars of Stranger Things , actor David Harbor (police chief Jim Hopper), has said that "probably" will be in 2019 , which makes sense based on the date of filming start in April.
