Emirates to launch nonstop Dubai-Newark route

Emirates has announced plans for a new nonstop route between Dubai and New York’s Newark airport.
The new B777-300ER service will launch on June 1, departing Dubai at 0300 and arriving into Newark at 0900, with the return leg leaving the US at 1150 and landing back into Dubai at 0820 the following day.

The nonstop flight will compliment Emirates’ existing one-stop flight to Newark via Athens.
But the move will also see the carrier drop one of its four daily Dubai-New York JFK services from March 25, leaving it with two nonstop flights to JFK, and a third routing via Milan.

Emirates also says it will return its Fort Lauderdale and Orlando services to daily from March 25. The frequency of the routes were cut last year, with the airline at the time blaming the decision on issues including “the issuance of entry visas, heightened security vetting, and restrictions on electronic devices in aircraft cabin”.
The carrier said that the move to increase frequencies on the routes reflected “the steady rebound in customer demand”.
Emirates currently operates flights to 12 US destinations: New York JFK, Newark, Boston, Washington DC, Chicago, Seattle, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Houston, Dallas, Fort Lauderdale and Orlando.
